We have a race in our lore that basically consists of former humans turned mutant by their own environmental tampering. Their faces are extremely pale and mottled and their wizards use constant magical auras to survive in their atmosphere. I'd imagine the non-spellcaster types would need some sort of environment suit to survive, and these are the ones I'd want to stat up.

Weird supernatural and/or extraordinary abilities are more than welcome and a CR below 3 is preferred. They're called Xalimites and they live in a decimated wasteland in case you'd want to work within our setting, but I'm fine with any new ideas. Would prefer a Pathfinder block. I'm fairly new to tabletop RPGs and I'm not confident making balanced monsters yet, so I've wanted a true statblock for these guys. Thanks!

Cool Xalimites remind me a bit of a cross between the Toxic Avenger creature and the Kaled mutants (from Dr. Who)! coolio.

I'll admit I had to look both of those up (despite several of my friends probably knowing what Kaled mutants are), but I can definitely see that, most likely stirred in with a mentally elevated tusken raider flavor.

Smile Hi guys, I came across some striga stats in Legions of Hell Volume One (GRR1005) from Green Ronin dated 2001. Perhaps you already knew about them. But, I thought to mention it anyway. Apparently the stats are open content. These Green Ronin strigae are not based on Supernatural. I could post the stats if there is interest. Maybe you can find them on-line too.

I'm interested. I thought striga was a Supernatural original.

Nope, Eastern European folklore.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strigoi

Apparently also what Strix are based on. I may have to take a better look, as Strix are one of the major players in my campaign.

huh. cool. I didn't make the connection beween strigas and strigoi.

I have a documentary on Romainian folklore and I believe strigoi is mentioned. The documentory is called Across the Forest.

www.acrosstheforest.com

If you go to the website and click the "stories" link and then page through, you will eventually come across brief quotes about the strigoi and the varcolaci.

Cool It's a neat documentary. Kinda raw. Could have been edited a wee bit better. I liked it though.

I will post the LOH striga stats later tonight perhaps. Currently on my way to The Pantless Menace 3D!

Ryan, Div

Here are the striga stats. There may be some typos. The OCR had some troubles with the scanned image.

The stats and combat section are open content, but I don't think the description is so I didn't include it here.

Striga

Medium-Size Outsider (Evil, Lawful) Hit Dice: 5d8+ 10 (32 hp)
Initiative: +3 (Dex)

Speed: 30 ft., fly 50 ft. (average)

AC (flat-footed): 12
AC (vs. touch attacks): 13 Attacks: 2 claws +8 melee

Damage: Claw 1d6+ 3 and poison
Face/Reach: 5 ft. by 5 ft./5 ft.
Special Attacks: Poison
Special Qualities: Baatezu qualities, true seeing
Saves: Fort +6, Ref +7, Will +5
Abilities: Str 16, Dex 17, Con 14, Int 11, Wis 12, Cha 13

Skills: Gather Information +6, Hide +8, Innuendo +6, Listen +6, Move Silently +8, Read Lips +5, Search +5, Spot +6
Feats: Blind-Fight, Dodge

Climate/Terrain: Any land and underground
Organization: Solitary or covey (2-5) Challenge Rating: 3
Treasure: Standard
Alignment: Always lawful evil

Advancement: 6-8 HD (Medium-size); 8-15 HD (Large)

Combat
Individual strigae rarely stick around for extended combats. They are far more likely to take to the sky and return later with reinforcements. When numbers are on their side, strigae attack with their poisoned claws, attempting to gang up on and weaken their foes.

Poison (Ex): Claw, Fortitude save (DC 14); initial and secondary damage 1d4 temporary Strength.

Spell-like Abilities: 3/day-invisihility (self only), polymorph self, 1/day-expeditious retreat and knock. These abilities are as the spells cast by an 8th-level sorcerer (save DC 11 + spell level).

True Seeing (Su): The sensory organ implanted in a striga's skull gives her the permanent benefit of a true seeing spell (arcane version).

I have been a huge fan of your 35 podcast for a long time now but don't normally take the time to get on forums of any kind. But I think you have changed my mind about your site. I realized you haven"t gotten very many suggestion for monster by request. So allow me to post a short list of monsters I would like to see for a 3.5 game, although you can choose what works best. (Please feel free to take this as inspiration and don't think you need to do them all) Some I have already stated out for my game with very little if any playtesting but most I haven't gotten around to.

Aliens (Xenomorphs from the Alien movies)
Predators (From the movies also called Yuatja sp? and Hish)
Smurfs (tiny fey that make everyone around them happy?)
Gremlins (Form movies of same name)
Bomb (from final fantasy games, part guard part trap?)
Malboro (again from final fantasy, plant that can kick butt?)
Tonberry (again from final fantasy, psionic walking turtle?)
Cerberus (multi headed giant dog why isn't this in a monster manual?)

Well I hope I gave you enough to think about and I look forward to reading some in the future. Keep up the great work on the podcast.

Thanks for the suggestions, DragonLord. Monster by Request isn't the regular feature on the site I originally totted it as for two reasons, neither of which is lack of response:

1. My job this year is more demanding of my time;
2. I am getting more paid writing assignments.

I still try to catch up on the list when I can, but I can't do it at monthly intervals like I originally planned.
