Not too surprising. Edition 3.5 was no longer being supported by the publisher of DnD. Note the increase in Pathfinder! Even without the juggernaut that is Hasbro behind it, Pathfinder increased almost 4%. It looks like Paizo and WotC were scavenging the drain from 3.5 and generic D20. And we Pathfinder devotees drop a LOT more money per person on our system than the 4e guys.
Looks like Fear the Boot is the current undisputed overlord. And I can only conclude that as a group, we gamers need to exercise more. Only 5% listen to podcasts while exercising. |

HA!
I think my sensei would have something to say about my listening to a podcast whilst training!! _________________ 3.5 Private Sanctuary's official fashionista. =P

| This is a fun and interesting bit of trivia, but it is neither scientific nor rigorous.. It only polls the listeners who responded and is, therefore, a serious small snapshot of gaming podcast listeners. Did the Spooky Outhouse have a reason for doing this? |

That's the problem. You only get information on people who responded... which is a subset of the total listeners..... the "uber-fans."
Spooky Outhouse began after Dan and Adam had their spat and Adam left Fear the Boot. Those who started listening to the Podge Cast were Fear the Boot fans first and migrated to Adam's (well I suppose I should say DAVID's) podcast. Wow! Look at the top two podcasts!
I don't pretend to be a statistician. Dammit Jim! I'm molecular biologist! I send my data out to an expert. But a basic understanding of statistics IS important in order to draw conclusions from surveys. I also have a problem where they try to make the data seem more accurate than it is by comparing their survey size to that use by political pollsters.

| Since state-wide polls for US political races use a sample size of at 500 or greater, this is a very significant sample of the entire table-top gamer population. |
That 500 sample size is completely random in the survey area. People aren't asked to call a number... they are bother at home! A better sample would be to have pollsters at GenCon this week randomly approach con-goers and ask their questions. THESE are the people they want.
Look.. it is a fun thing to look at. But I fear some of the podcasts will use these results to draw conclusions that are erroneous.[/quote] |
